The bell never sounded so sweet as it did on September 21st 2008 , on a gorgeous little beach just north of Coffs Harbour (Charlesworth Bay) Steve And Tan became Hilly’s. With their future Australian 4-way team (Kids) Xavia, Jack, Charlotte and Jacob at their sides ,this was to be the start of another awesomely connected true skydiving family.
The wedding was opened with an Australian Flag jump (Tony Maurer ,CI) followed by a literally smokin 4 way and ocean swoop (Pom with the Rings, Milton, Throb and the old dog Rainey).
The bride looked sensational as she walked down from the resort onto the sandy Isle (to the vibes I’m Yours, Jason Mraz) accompanied by her Dad Greg (who willingly gave his daughter away to a BUWA, let alone a Skydiver?? ) a really great guy & Father In-Law. The Bridesmaids and flower girl Charlotte were in tow also looking stunning.
With 30knots blowin the previous day and solid rain for the next few, a bullet had been dodged by the about to be newlyweds. Once again Coffs tropical weather turned it on with an array of storm clouds followed by a dozen droplets of rain into a steamy (No not resort room dirt dive yet) sunny blue skies day into awesome sunset through more storm clouds, an amazing evening light and sound show from the heavens and a ½ hr 4am absolute piss down.
The wedding photographer (Dave the click Moore) could not believe his luck, the back drops were to make for some pretty sexy shots. The ceremony was beautiful and interactive, (u know what skydivers get up to when they think they r not a part of it)!! A big connected circle of about 110 was made for the finale and the B & G walked through their circle of friends to close the ceremony.
It was then pic time at the beach before, you didn’t did you? Stepping “AIRSIDE” at Coffs Harbours Massive Regional thriving security risk airfield, for some really cool wedding photos!! We did, shock horror, pics on the runway and taxiways supported by an ASIC wielding 1000 strong armed security secret service MIB’s anti terrorist swat team. (Jokes, thanks to Coffs ATC and solo security dude Boris for helping set this up, the shots turned out awesome.)
Coffs City Skydivers aircraft hanger played host to the coolest hanger party / wedding reception venue ever. TXI was up in lights, the storm clouds were perfectly positioned, the old hanger with newly painted floor was decked out to the nines with Coastal Soul (band for the Afterlife boogie) rockin on and the party still crackin at 5pm the next day (again skydivers at play).
The Bride and Groom wondered off bout 4am to the honeymoon suite (Pacific Bay Resort) for some —you’ll never know, accompanied by their minders, Louie and Mario (who were on the bus behind the wedding car) but all this, was not before WAIT for it, the bride paid tribute to the Groom and Groomsman in her speech with this Quote “ The guys looked HOT!!” Not to mention our spunky little grooms boys Xavia, Jack and Jacob.
Hilly and Tan wish to thank all their jumpin buddies, families and friends who really put in to make this the most memorable night ever, that we can’t remember!!
